Island Mystics Mardi Gras Parade
Rolls Through Dauphin Island

Photos by Lillian Dean - Scenes from
the Island Mystics Mardi Gras parade in Dauphin Island.

The weather could not have been more perfect for the Island Mystics "Crawfish Boil" on Saturday afternoon. There were thousands of people lining the streets early enjoying the spring weather.

The parade began down at Fort Gaines on time and made it to the watertank around 1:45. The floats chosen to represent the Mystics for the parade were nice. There were lots of pirates, Peter Pan and a bruly looking Tinker Bell tossed beads to the crowds. Even Captain Morgan was there to join in the celebration. The lovely Queen's train depicted a boat and other ocean themed items.

It was a nice day, and I heard that the parties along the streets continued into the evening. Later there was a rumor that the leaders had a run in with the law but this in unconfirmed. Hopefully this is just another Mardi Gras rumor.
