"Visiting the camp - When Civil War soldiers were not engaged in combat, it was common for their wives, sweethearts, daughters and others to visit them at their camp sites. Abover Cherly Himbert of Harvey, LA and Suzanne Betts of Franklinton, LA, pay a visit, in period costume, to the 'soldiers' assigned to Dauphin Island's Fort Gaines during a re-enactment of a non-combat day at the fort held last weekend."
